Travel Report
Sankhuwasabha, Terathum

From Ktm. to 11am, Pachthar and Dhankuta ,Shankhuwasabha ,Terhathum I have returned home safely after 7 days (Monday to Sunday 23rd May). Six nights in six places from Ktm. We flew to Bhandrapur and by rad to 11am, Panchthr, Fidim. We stayed there overnight and held a press conference. We could not travel to Taplejung as we did not get convenient bus connection. Reserve taxi demanded Rs.25000 to cover 85 km up down. Taxis are having cartel and exploit consumers. From Fidim we returned to 11am for overnight stay. In Fidim we did not get comfortable
lodge and had to spend the night for Rs. 100 a room.

From IIam we came to Birtamod in common taxi from there to Dhankuta to Chainpur in a very crowded bus. Krishna and Mukunda Subedi had to ravel on foof. From Chainpur to Khandbari ( Sankhuwashava) we had to change to another over loaded bus where I had to stand for an hour. We found a comfortative lodge there. Next morning we hukla press meet Shankhuwasabha bazar is biggest among hilly district head quarters. They have big houses old and new, wide roads, well stocked shops.

They told me that bazar serves five adjoining districts like Bhojpur, Dhankutta, Terhathum etc.There is big business of rudraksha. One mukhe are costly but 21 mukhe 36 mukhe sells from 21 and 36 lakhs. But the poor farmer get only one to 2 lakhs. Middlemen traders have become rich there Remittance is the big source of income.

From Shankhuwasabha we came to Basantapur (Near Dhankuna) by reserve taxi for about 100 Km we had to pay Rs. 9000/. From there we reached Terathum(Myangloong) in the evening. Next morning we hukla press meet and traveled by bus to Dharan. At night we stayed at Biratnagar. We had meeting with media person at Dharan, Itahari and Birtnagar. Most journalists asked me whether the term of Constituent Assembly will be extended. Should C.A. members seek afresh mandate? My reply was that C.A's term will be extended under the pressure of foreign powers. Unless the conflicts are resolved the country should not go for election as election itself is a fight where political parties will use muscle and money power to win. News were broadcast by local FM were visibly pleased to meet me personally. Mukunda as media person did the publicity and PR and Krishna as my PA did the excellent job. Good thing abouthills are they are connected with roads. Most families have young members working in Arab and elsewhere. Bad thing are people don't have herds of cows and buffaloes. There are some increases in goat farming. Vegetable farming is limited to areas where water is available.

As one poet put it so elegantly;
"That traveller is no traveller who retires before reaching
the destination"
Yes, we are not tired. Our journey is on.
